The Detroit Red Wings have been a painful rebuild to watch. They have lost 31 of their 37 games by 2 or more goals, so essentially every game they play is a chance to bet on the other teams puck line. However, due to the progression of this trend, the opening puck line for opponents has not been stellar. I recall seeing the Capitals and Bruins puck lines against Detroit being set at -110, which for my money doesn’t seem like the right play regardless of how bad Detroit is.

To gain more value for opposing team puck lines try and be more patient as to when that puck line wager is thrown. Waiting 5 to 10 minutes of the first period to see if that opposing team LIVE puck line is at friendlier odds compared to the opening line is the best way to gain value. This is risky though, especially if the Wings give up an early goal and then Barney Buckets has ruined your night by telling you to wait.

The Flyers play the Wings tonight, February 3rd, and are at +130 on the puck line. I’ll hop on that early, but I’ll still have my eyes set on the live lines in order to get the most bang for my Red Wing killing buck.
