As the resident hockey guy, it’s my duty to update you all on the happenings within the game. The AHL, the minor league of the NHL, has cancelled the remainder of its season due to coronavirus.
The AHL Board of Governors has voted to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 AHL regular season and the 2020 Calder Cup Playoffs due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis.

Not sure as to how this will effect the NHL, but it doesn’t help the leagues cause to return. Some are optimistic around the league that play will resume in June, while others, like Kings star Drew Daughty, believe play will not resume.
Regardless of whether you can name an AHL team or not, it’s not good for sports that the AHL has canceled. Hopefully sports can come back like European soccer has announced, but until then, the rinks are empty.
