10 years ago today, yes 10 YEARS ago, the Flyers completed the greatest comeback in Philly sports history, and arguably of all-time. On this day, the Flyers came back from 3 games down against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
May 14, 2010: The Flyers come back from a 3-0 1st period deficit to beat the Bruins 4-3 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

This was a bigger comeback than BOTH of the Miracle at the Meadowlands comebacks combined. To paint a picture of how crazy of a comeback this was, a 3-0 comeback in a playoff series has only been done 3 other times in sports, THREE! The first 3-0 comeback occurred in 1942 with the Maple Leafs, then by the Islanders in 1975, and famously in 2004 when the Red Sox came from behind to beat the New York Yankees. Winning from down 3-0 is the epitome of guts, and the 2010 Flyers had nothing but guts.
The 2010 Flyers brought a buzz to the city that was like no other. Kids like myself were playing street hockey imaging they were Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Scott Hartnell, Simon Gagne, Pronger, etc. The list can go on forever. They inspired a wave of hockey fandom that hadn’t been seen since the mid-70’s.
It’s a shame that this season was cut short, because this 2020 Flyers team had the stuff the 2010 squad had. They played like the Broad Street Bullies, but with grace, skill, and energy. I can’t wait for season to come back, and for the Orange & Black to show the league that they are back, and are gonna start the decade stronger than the 2010 team did.
