Now back to your scheduled programming.
Feeding Harry Mac unwanted League of Legends plays is what brought me to writing for this beautiful website so there is no way I’d let my other musings get in the way of the return of the LCS.
Since writing blogs makes me exactly as much money as you think it does, I have a day job. Even though League of Legends will essentially be on 24/7 for the next few months I only have enough time to focus on the LCS. So that is where we will be making our money this summer.
Off Season Recap:
The LCS stinks and the pandemic really prevented any teams from making big roster moves since they were limited to acquiring talent already in the United States.
Cloud9 wreaked havoc on the LCS last season with a 17-1 regular season and cruised to a championship in the playoffs. The only team I can see reaching their level is Team Liquid. Liquid were a huge letdown last season but they have the talent on paper and just hired former pro and longtime caster, Jatt, as their new head coach.
On the tier below that, Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves have left their rosters essentially untouched. I expect them to largely hold form this season and both finish Top 5.
Below that everything becomes a cluster. I don’t think any of the other teams got significantly better. In fact I think Team SoloMid got significantly worse. Similarly, I think FlyQuest will not match the success they had in the spring. Lastly, CLG will continue to be complete and utter garbage.
Picks
100 Thieves vs Evil Geniuses – 9:00PM EST
Like I said, both these teams should finish near the top of the standings. Evil Geniuses finished last season on a tear and I can’t help but think they figured something out at the end of the season. I’m taking them ML and going to parlay it with C9 ML to boost the odds close to even.
Cloud9 vs FlyQuest – 10:00PM EST
FlyQuest is due for a regression this season. After turning heads last season they also held their roster constant. However buffs to the mid lane are going to hamper PowerOfEvil’s ability to put his team on the back. Furthermore, Cloud9 are just an absolute wagon. On top of the ML parlay, I’m taking Cloud9 -7.5 kills. I know it’s a lot but they covered that many kills in 4 of their 5 meetings with FlyQuest last season
Recap
- 1u Cloud9 – 7.5 Kills (-130)
- 1u Parlay: Evil Geniuses ML | Cloud9 ML (-105)
