Mid-week Bundesliga footy is back. Few things are better than a Tuesday jammed packed with games, followed by a Wednesday jammed packed with games to fade me on. I was 3-8 last week… major yikes for me, but you readers are smart, so I know you faded me. I’m down a little on the season, but looking to bounce back with this slate of mid-week games. Let’s ride.
‘Gladbach v. Wolfsburg
This is the best match of the week. 5th v. 6th in the standings, so plenty to play for in terms of European soccer for next season, assuming we have it. ‘Gladbach started the season hot, but only have 7 points in their last 6 matches. Wolfsburg on the other hand have been hot out of the Covid restart, but with the second most ties in the league, they aren’t a team known for finishing the job. I’m taking a 1H draw at +125, and ‘Gladbach money line at +115 for 2 units.
Union Berlin v. Paderborn
You know the drill, fade Paderborn. Especially after their performance last weekend against Bremen, the only club as bad as them. Scrappy Union Berlin money line all day at -150, and UB to have a shutout at +155.
Freiburg v. Hertha Berlin
Freiburg are a team I feel like I’d like. They are absolutely maddening, and definitely a team that doesn’t capitalize on mistakes, but gets capitalized on when they make them. A lot like all of the Philly teams I root for. Back to the pitch, these two are neck and neck in the table, and in their last 5 matches against each other, they’ve drawn 3 times. Taking the classic, always in style, Barney Bundesliga draw at +250.
Werder Bremen v. Bayern Munich
Bayern need this win to lock up their Bundesliga title for the 8th season in a row. That’s nearly a decade of dominance, a kind of dominance that looks like it’ll be around for another 8 years. Despite delivering an ass kicking to Paderborn last week, Bremen are the one’s who will be on the receiving end of one this time. Taking a Bayern clean sheet at EVEN money for 2 units.
Frankfurt v. Schalke
I know I said to fade Schalke for eternity, but this is the Barney Bundesliga FADE Board. I gotta fight fade with fade on this one. The money is flowing toward Frankfurt on this match, so I’m taking the underdog. In what can only be described as an epiphany, I’m taking Schalke ML at +325.
RB Leipzig v. Düsseldorf
I’ll be a coward on this one. I don’t like anything I see. RBL is a lock, but nothing enticing enough to make me throw anything on it.
Leverkusen v. FC Köln
My Billy Goats stink. I’ll admit it, I only like them because they are called the Billy Goats, but they aren’t a good side. I will however take them on a 1H draw at +160. I like Leverkusen money line, but aren’t thrilled with the value, so just the 1H draw for this one.
Dortmund v. Mainz
Dortmund pulled out an extremely late winner last week, but expect the Black & Yellow to pull it together against Mainz. Mainz, who have just 1 win and 4 goals in their last 6 matches, won’t have enough to test Dortmund. A Dortmund clean sheet isn’t out on books yet, but taking that, whatever it ends up being.
FC Augsburg v. Hoffenheim
Augsburg beat Hoffenheim 4-2 when they last played in December, but the House Plants have been draw-happy as of late. Diving into the draw pool on this one at +250.
The Bundesliga is coming down to the home stretch, so let’s relish the time we have together, and more importantly with the Fade Board. As always, kick it easy, knuckleheads.
