First Brady, now Messi. The GOAT’s are moving on. It’s the summer of break ups, ask Brett Brown, Mike Milbury, and Thom Brenneman.

Although this breakup doesn’t seem like a bitter one, it definitely is a bitter sweet one. Messi was an icon at Barcelona, I’m talking LeBron status, but higher. Yes, I said higher. I went to FC Barcelona summer camps that were globally ran by the club. The same club that Messi elevated to the world, especially America. During his 16 year career with Barca’s 1st team (Has been in the FC Barcelona Academy since 2001), he’s won a record 6 Ballon d’Or Awards, 4 Champions League Titles, and 10 La Liga crowns…. Absolutely dominant.
BUT, Barca have been a stinkfest ever since Pep left, and the 33 year old wants a new scene. Can’t blame him. He wants something new, a change of pace, and I know where he can land to find that new happiness.
Philly
The MLS is a star driven league, and the city of Philadelphia deserves a workhorse like Messi. He’s a lot like the city. Tough, fearless, and never backed down cause he wasn’t the biggest (suck it NYC). We’d embrace Messi, just like we embraced KD even though he’d never lace ’em up for the Sixers.
KD, get on the phone with your people, get Messi’s people on the call, and let’s celebrate this deal on the Chester Waterfront with some steaks. It’s time the Union got their global star player.
