MASSIVE NEWS in the college football stratosphere. Redshirt freshman Spencer Rattler of the Oklahoma Sooners was named the starting quarterback by head coach Lincoln Riley. For the uninitiated, Spencer Rattler was one of the stars of season 3 of QB1: Beyond the Lights. Which if you have not seen, I highly recommend. It’s a documentary about several high school quarterbacks going into their senior season and shows their life on and off the field. Rattler finished his high school career with a Arizona record 11,083 passing yards.
Spencer’s high school career ended clouded by some mystery as he was deemed athletically ineligible after an incident and was forced to miss the playoffs.
Regardless, with a head coach like Lincoln Riley and a program that put out bach to bach Heisman Trophy winners in 2017 and 2018 (Baker and Kyler, respectively), I’m expecting big things from the electric factory that is Spencer Rattler.
