- #15 UNC (-6.5, O/U 61.5) @ UVA
Weather: 50 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
UVA: Big play WR Lavel Davis – Undisclosed (doubtful)
UNC: Starting WR Beau Corrales – Lower Body (questionable)
Offense/Defense Rankings:
UVA: Ranked #46 in total offense and #61 in total defense
UNC: Ranked #8 in total offense and #39 in total defense
Biggest Storyline: Can Brennan Armstrong and the Cavaliers keep up with UNC’s fast paced explosive offense?
Notes: This spread makes absolutely no sense. I feel like sharps will be on UVA but I sure as hell wont. Lay anything under 7 with UNC and do not think twice.
2) Wake Forest (-11.5, O/U 59) @ Syracuse
Weather: 46 and Sunny (in a dome though)
Key Injuries:
Syracuse: Starting QB Tommy DeVito – Heel (out for the year), Starting RB Sean Tucker – Leg (questionable), Starting star WR Taj Harris – Suspension (questionable)
Wake Forest: Starting WR A.T Perry – Undisclosed (questionable)
Offense/Defense Rankings:
Syracuse: Ranked #91 in total offense and #86 in total defense
Wake Forest: Ranked #38 in total offense and #73 in total defense
Biggest Storylines:
- Can Syracuse get anything going with backup QB Rex Culpepper and with the possibility of missing their 2 best players on offense?
- Will the Demon Deacons keep rolling and rattle off four wins in a row after a slow start?
Notes: Syracuse may be the worst team in nation. The Orange cannot get anything going on either side of the ball and even when starting QB Tommy DeVito was playing they still looked god awful. Wake Forest is a sneaky solid team in the ACC, and I think they should cover with ease.
3) Virginia Tech (-3.5, O/U 67.5) @ Louisville
Weather: 60 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
VT: Nothing new of note
Louisville: Nothing new of note
Offense/Defense Rankings:
VT: Ranked #21 in total offense and #74 in total defense
Louisville: Ranked #43 in total offense and #44 in total defense
Biggest Storyline: Can Louisville’s #68 ranked rushing defense contain Virginia Tech’s #4 ranked rushing attack?
Notes: Virginia Tech is a one tricky pony on offense. If you can stop their rushing attack you basically win the game. Louisville has an unreal offensive trio with QB Malik Cunningham, RB Javian Hawkins and Star WR Tutu Atwell. Louisville is going to score on Virginia Tech’s suspect defense and if Louisville goes up early, I do not see this one being close. Leaning heavily on the home dawg Cardinals.
4) #16 Kansas State @ West Virginia (-4.5, O/U 45.5)
Weather: 55 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
WVU: Nothing new of note
Kansas State: Starting QB Skylar Thompson – Shoulder (out for season), Starting DB AJ Parker – Leg (questionable)
Offense/Defense Rankings:
WVU: Ranked #25 in total offense and #6 in total defense
Kansas State: Ranked #71 in total offense and #67 in total defense
Biggest Storyline: Will true freshman Kansas State QB Will Howard be able to get anything going against West Virginia’s #8 ranked passing defense?
Notes: I do not care what the rankings say, this is a huge mismatch on paper. The 16th ranked Wildcats are just not even close to as good as their ranking says, and without starting QB Skylar Thompson, their colors will soon show. Neal Brown has something brewing in Morgantown as the Mountaineers have the looks of top 25 team and it seems like Vegas knows something is up also. This spread makes no sense so lay the points and do not think twice.
5) TCU (-2.5, O/U 48) @ Baylor
Weather: 70 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
Baylor: Nothing new of note
TCU: Nothing new of note
Offense/Defense Rankings:
Baylor: Ranked #84 in total offense and #34 in total defense
TCU: Ranked #45 in total offense and #50 in total defense
Biggest Storyline: Will Charlie Brewer and Baylor Bears finally be able to get something going on the offensive side of the ball against the Horn Frogs suspect defense?
Notes: This game stinks. Not only is the line sketchy, but both of these teams have really stumbled out of the gate and have severely underwhelmed. Though TCU has a win against a top ten team at the time in the Texas Longhorns, they are still 1-3 and are trending downward. This game is screaming for you to take the under and even though sharps and the public are all over it, I still think it is the right play.
6) Texas @ #6 Oklahoma State (-3, O/U 58)
Weather: 65 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
Texas: Starting WR Jordan Whittington – abdominal (out indefinitely)
Oklahoma State: Nothing new of note
Offense/Defense Rankings:
Texas: Ranked #18 in total offense and #43 in total defense
Oklahoma State: Ranked #40 in total offense and #18 in total defense
Biggest Storylines:
- Is Oklahoma State’s defense actually legit?
- Will Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns get their signature win to get their season back on track?
Notes: With the offense/defense rankings being almost identical on opposite sides of the ball, this game could not be more even if it tried. I am not completely buying Oklahoma State’s defense but at the same time I think their offense is way better than they get credit for. This just seems like one of those games where you take the over and just enjoy some good football.
7) LSU (-2, O/U 64) @ Auburn
Weather: 66 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
LSU: Starting QB Myles Brennan – Oblique (doubtful)
Auburn: Nothing new of note
Offense/Defense Rankings
LSU: Ranked #16 in total offense and #83 in total defense
Auburn: Ranked #62 in total offense and #52 in total defense
Biggest Storylines:
- Will true freshman backup QB T.J Finley be able to build on last weekend’s fantastic debut?
- Can Bo Nix and the Auburn Tigers finally get something going through the air against LSU’s horrid 98th ranked passing defense?
Notes: This spread is so sketchy it actually hurts. I cannot believe I am going to fall for the trap again, but I really do not see how Auburn lets this one slip at home. In conference home dawgs against a team starting their backup QB? Give me Auburn to win outright.
8) Arkansas @ #8 Texas A&M (-13.5, O/U 53.5)
Weather: 72 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
Arkansas: Starting ILB Bumper Pool – Undisclosed (questionable), Starting DB Jerry Jacobs – Opted out (out indefinitely)
A&M: Starting RB Isiah Spiller – Undisclosed (probable)
Offense/Defense Rankings:
Arkansas: Ranked #78 in total offense and #60 in total defense
A&M: Ranked #39 in total offense and #29 in total defense
Biggest Storyline:
- Arkansas is a perfect 4-0 ATS this season, can they keep grinding out covers?
- Can Felipe Franks and the Razorback’s expose A&M’s 78th ranked passing defense?
Notes: This one is extremely interesting to me. I actually really like Felipe Franks and think the Razorbacks are a little better than their rankings say. With that being said, I love Kellen Mond and think the Aggie’s are for real. I am heavily leaning towards laying the points with A&M as long as its lower than 2 TD’s. Sort of like the over here as well.
9) UCF (-3, O/U 82.5) @ Houston
Weather: 73 and Sunny
Key Injuries:
UCF: Starting OL Parker Boudreaux – Concussion (out), Backup/change of pace RB Otis Anderson – undisclosed (questionable), Starting DB Antawn Collier – Arm (questionable)
Houston: Nothing new of note
Offense/Defense Rankings:
UCF: Ranked #1 in total offense and #88 in total defense
Houston: Ranked #28 in total offense and defense
Biggest Storyline: Can Clayton Tune and the Houston Cougars keep up with UCF’s #1 ranked offense?
Notes: This total is laughable. Not saying it’s not going to hit because I feel like it honestly might whenever UCF is playing but it’s just way too high for me. UCF is going to score and there is nothing you can really do about it. It seems like a sucker bet but I just cannot get myself off of betting the Knights here. Lay the 3 points with UCF
