Tonight marks the debut of ONE on TNT, ONE’s long awaited first live event in the states. More importantly, it marks non hardcore brain poisoned MMA fans introduction to Rodtang.
Who is Rodtang you ask? His full name is Rodtang Jitmuangnon, but like many greats before him he’s ascended to simply “Rodtang” at this point. He is 5’6″ and 136lbs of pure, unbridled, glorious Muay Thai (and also regular Thai) violence. Rodtang has absolutely cleaned out ONE’s Flyweight Muay Thai division a few times over and also competes in their kickboxing division. According to ONE’s notoriously propaganda-y team (I see you Chatri, most watched promotion on Earth!), Rodtang compiled over 250 career Muay Thai and Kickboxing wins before he turned 21. For the record, he is still somehow only 23 which is just laugh out loud funny.
Here is a brief yet Paul Bunyanesque list of Rodtang’s accomplishments:
- Won his first professional Muay Thai Bout at 10(!) years old
- As previously mentioned, compiled over 250 career wins from ages 10-21
- MAX Muay Thai Champion
- 2x Omnoi Stadium Muay Thai Champion
- 2018 Rajadamnern Stadium Fight of the Year (vs Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi)
- 2019 Rajadamnern Stadium Fight of the Year (vs Saeksan Or. Kwanmuang)
- ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion
I mean jeezum crow Rodtang, make me feel like more of a piece of shit for being younger than you and about .03% as accomplished. All jokes aside, Rodtang is an absolute pleasure to watch and such a fan favorite because he just comes forward with ruthless aggression no matter what the situation is. I’ve never seen someone simply decide not to be hurt by punches like Rodtang before, it’s incredible and has convinced me that pain and weakness is nothing but a state of mind and that I could easily will my way to a victory in a fight over a 1998 Ford Taurus.
